This is a Teachers Write continuity activity for Fellows and friends.
Visiting Writers: Lois Williams and Renee Aukeman
Lois Williams writes about landscape, family, and migration. Her poems and non-fiction have earned her two full fellowships from Vermont Studio Center, a Barbara Deming Memorial Award for women writers, and a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts individual artist fellowship. In 2006/7 she was Charles Pick Fellow in Writing at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. She teaches writing and reading at the University of Pittsburgh. Her essay “The House of Provisions” appears in the October issue of GRANTA.
Renee Aukeman is WPWP Writer-in-Residence for the 2008-2009 academic year. She is a second-year graduate student in the MFA program, working in creative non-fiction. Renee has taught high school overseas, is a certified Yoga instructor and is writing a book about Christian faith and Yoga practice. She has written, studied and taught poetry as well as fiction and non-fiction. Renee will be offering writing workshops all year to help Fellows polish and complete work and to learn more about craft and process. She is working with the continuity group to plan writing activities she will lead and facilitate. Some of these activities will be offered on Super Saturdays.
